Vitamin B-Free! . . . Becoming Spiritually Healthy

Believing It Is Living It!

New seriesThis week, Pastor Bruce continues his summer series, Vitamin B-Free . . . Becoming Spiritually Healthy with "Believing it is Living it."

Discover the answer to the question
What Does Living Out What I Believe Look Like?

Just as Vitamin B is important for physical health, Vitamin B-Free is vital for individual, spiritual health as well as the spiritual health of a local church body.  What is Vitamin B-Free?  To find out, please join us at CrossPointe Church on Sunday morning, as Pastor Bruce Smilie continues his life-changing, summer message series, Vitamin B-FREE!

Wishing for inviteInvite someone!

Summer is a great time to invite someone to experience the CrossPointe difference. We encourage you to share what you have found here with others that you come in contact with. Here are a few suggestions on how:

  • Take a CrossPointe pen home from the service, and leave it at the grocery store or doctor's office.
  • Pick up a few invite cards at the Welcome Center and leave one with your tip at your favorite restaurant or coffee shop.
  • Include an invite card when you mail your check to pay your local bills.
  • New neighbors? Deliver a plate of homemade cookies tied with a piece of curling ribbon, and attach a CrossPointe pen and invite card.

Most importantly, pray, that those whose hearts have been made ready by the Lord to receive your invitation, will respond by visiting us. Pray that when they do, they will find CrossPointe Church a place of completely committed Christ-followers filled with God's love.

DiceIt's Bunko Time!

What's Bunko? It's a party. It's a blast. It's a social event. It's a few hours away from the kids, household chores, to-do lists, and project deadlines.

It's an excuse to fall off our diets, eating M&Ms, and ice cream. It's a place to get support for staying on our diets, eating healthy and sticking to our exercise commitments. It's a night of sharing stories, celebrating joys and encouraging each other during tough times. It's a time of building relationships and growing closer to the Lord. And in between, somehow we find time to play a silly, mindless dice game with wild abandon, and not a smidgeon of skill.

Join us for a night of fun and laughter Friday, July 11th, 7:00-10:00 pm. Bring a snack to share. For more information contact Sunny Fussell or call the church office at (972) 723-8920. Sorry; childcare is not available for this event.

Manage Your Moods Biblically!

God has created us as emotional beings, capable of a wide range of feelings. Obviously, His desire is that those feelings not control us.
--Mary Graham

Sometimes, our moods can get the best of us. They can even stand in the way of healthy communication with others. . . . We all could use encouragement in managing our tempers, as well as facing jealousy, loneliness, worry, and feelings of being overwhelmed. . . . We try (and fail) to control our own lives apart from God. It's part of being human.... part of being a woman! Isn't it nice to know you're not alone?
--Thomas Nelson

The emotions that affect us every day don't have to control us. We can learn how to "Manage Your Moods" and we can do it with God's help. Two ladies Bible study groups are beginning the Women Of Faith study, Managing Your Moods, so it's a great time to join in.

On Tuesday mornings, ladies meet at 10:00 am at the CrossPointe Activity Center. Stephanie Ray leads the Tuesday morning group, and childcare is provided. For more information, email Stephanie Ray or call Stephanie at (972) 723.8285.

On Thursday evenings, ladies meet at the Payne home in Midlothian at 7:00 pm. Teri Payne leads this study and childcre is available with advanced reservation. For directions on how to get to Teri's, View Map. To ask Teri a question, give her a call at (972) 775-6418 or send her an email.

Wednesday. You're over the hump. But what will sustain you for the race to the Five-o'clock Friday Finish?

How about a Walk With Christ? Men's Ministry's Walk With Christ kicks off Wednesday, July 16 at 7:00 pm and will happen weekly at various locations. On the 16th, we will meet at Kimmel Park in Midlothian. It's one block North of the Activity Center on 2nd Street.

Come on, dig out your comfortable walking shoes and go for a walk with other Christian men. Who knows who we'll meet . . . who we can IMPACT for the Lord?

Just do it. It'll make the rest of your week all down-hill!

The Door Student Ministries

Spaghetti plateSpaghetti Lunch to Raise Funds for Student Camp

None of us have escaped the financial effects of rising fuel prices. But students of The Door are determined that it won’t prevent them from experiencing life change this summer.

The Door Summer Camp at South Padre Island happens July 26-30 and costs $250 after July 2. That cost can be a significant burden for some families; for others, it’s simply cost-prohibitive. What can you do to help?

Make plans now to have lunch at the conference center on Sunday, July 13, immediately following the worship service. Students will serve a delicious spaghetti dinner with all the trimmings. All proceeds will go toward the cost of the Door Summer Camp trip to South Padre Island. Questions? Contact Katy Rider at 817.925.9153.

Can't stay for lunch?

Maybe you won't be able to attend the Spaghetti Lunch on July 13. We'll miss you. . . but you can still help send a kid to camp. Simply add an amount for camp sponsorship to your tithe, and indicate on your check or envelope the amount to be allocated to camp. (If there is no camp note at all, we cannot apply it to camp--the entire amount will be credited as a tithe/offering).

You may specify which age group you want your offering to go to. Just write "Door Camp $(amount)" or "Preteen Camp $(amount)" in the memo space on your check. If you write "camp" without specifying which camp, we will divide the amount between the two camp funds.

Questions? Contact Cindy Meek for Preteen Camp or Katie Rider for Door Camp.

IT's Bible Superheroes!

This week, the story of Esther will help CrossPointe youngsters understand that, with God's help, they can be bold without fear.

"Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power!" (Eph 6:10).

Zooplosion!

Elementary-school children continue their exploration of the zoo this week, discovering that salvation comes only from God.

This week's Bible verse explains that Jesus is the only solution to our sin problem and our only way to Heaven (John 14:6). Watch for this week's new take-home devotional, full of fun and exciting activities to help kids hide God's word in their hearts. And, if they bring it back next Sunday with the activities they completed signed off by a parent, there will be special surprises!

Scripture of the Week

As for those who seemed to be important--whatever they were makes no difference to me; God does not judge by external appearance--those men added nothing to my message. (Gal. 2:6)
